With roughly 15 roads closed due to the high waters last week, Union Parish school officials scrambled to get kids into class and focused on the task at hand.

Included in the worries already on parent’s minds, buses were unable to reach some students and some were checked out to assist with flooding issues.
“We have seen a problem where kids couldn’t come to school because their roads were not accessible,” Union Parish School Board superintendent Steve Dozier said. “We do know there were some problems with Spearsville with roads underwater. We will allow kids to make up anything they missed because of this.”
