Construction on the much anticipated tainter gate flood control project could begin this fall.

Bayou D’Arbonne Lake Watershed District engineer Ron Riley said paper work has been filed with the state’s bond commission and funding for the $8 million project should appear on the bond commission’s August agenda.
Once that funding is approved, the project will be let out for bids and construction will begin.
“If all goes well they will pass a resolution and make the money available in a couple of months,’’ Riley said at Monday’s Lake Commission meeting. “Once that happens we can advance forward, so the tainter gate project looks like its on its way.’’
