UP spared brunt of Isaac’s punch

Hurricane Isaac “just missed us” according to disaster recovery specialist Jacob Halley and from the looks of the residual damage in parishes like Plaquemine, Orleans and even up to Franklin, that is a good thing.
The day before the storm, the National Weather Service was predicting up to 12 inches of rain for Union Parish, however, Halley said at the last minute, the hurricane sucked in dry air from the west, which turned the storm more to the east. The easterly turn weakened its blow by the time Isaac got to Union Parish.
