Murder suspect surrenders

Jamie Martinez Jackson, who was wanted in the murder of Bernice teenager Precious Story, surrendered to Magnolia, Ark., police at approximately 4 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon.

“He walked into the police department and said he was ‘tired of running,’’’ Union Parish Sheriff Bob Buckley said.
“Jackson is being held in the Columbia County Jail as a fugitive from justice in Union Parish on a second degree murder warrant as well as unrelated charges out of Columbia.
“The suspect will be brought back to Union Parish after he either waives extradition or an extradition hearing is held.’’
Jackson is the third person the be arrested in the murder of the 18-year-old, who was reported missing on Aug. 30 and was found Sept. 2 on State Line Road just east of Junction City in Union County, Ark.
Two suspects already arrested in connection with the murder are James Lewis Jr., and Roger Lee Phillips Jr.
Lewis was charged with second degree murder and is being held in the Union Parish Detention Center on a bond of $350,000.
Phillips was charged with obstruction of justice and is being held of a $50,000 bond in the Union Parish Detention Center.
