Sensley honored by Southern University
Southern University living legend, Farmerville businessman Willie T. Sensley, Sr., was honored recently, by the Southern University Blacks in Agricultural, Family and Consumer Science Awareness Symposium as their 2008 Louisiana Living Legend.
Mr. Sensley is a native of Clinton and earned a bachelor’s degree in agriculture education from Southern University in 1952 before earning a master’s degree in agriculture econmics from Prairie View A & M University in 1973.
He is married to Goldie Sensley, the father of Ercel Brew, Willie Sensley, Jr., and the grandfather of Skylar and Spencer Sensley. In partnership with his son Mr. Sensley owns and operates a 580 acre farm where they produce poultry and beef cattle, in addition to his ownership of a community shopping center and the largest housing complex in Union Parish, which recently opened near Pilgrim’s Pride.
Mr. Sensley served in the United States Army from 1952-1955 where he earned the rank of Captain and served during the Korean War.
He is a retired extension agent having worked 34 years for Louisiana State University from 1955 to 1986.
During many of those years he served the Southern University system as a member of the Southern University Board of Supervisors, serving as Chairman from 1990-1993.
Mr. Sensley is a Deacon at Blooming Grove Baptist Church where he serves as Chairman of the Finance Committee. May God Bless Willie T. Sensley, Sr., and his family.
