Superintendent Steve Dozier of the Union Parish School Board office is pleased to tell parents about a recent addition to the services that the district will be providing to parents.

The school district has acquired a call notification service named School Messenger.
This service is being provided in a joint effort between the Union Parish School Board office, and several federal and locally funded programs.
The School Messenger System’s call notification system can help the school district send emergency and general messages to parents.
When students are absent from school, the call notification system will send an automated call to parents.
The automated call will speak in a computer generated voice so please do not hang up whenever you hear a computer speaking.
Disciplinary actions such as suspension and expulsion calls to home will be added in the future.
The School Messenger system will allow the district and schools to send important notices such as school holidays, school closings, bus delays, testing dates, etc.
Each school’s principal will have the option of sending important general or emergency messages to parents in their own voice or by using the computer generated voice. Messages can be sent in English, Spanish and many other languages.
Calls will not be made to places of employment.
Dozier asks that parents check with the school to make sure their child’s home phone number is up-to-date.
The call notification system will be an asset for the district in getting messages delivered to parents quickly and reliably.
If parents have any questions regarding the call system they can call Debbie Plummer at the Union Parish School Board Office at 318-368-9715, ext. 108.
