Larry “Gray” Taylor (01-13-2010)
Larry “Gray” Taylor, 61, passed away peacefully November 19, 2009, surrounded by his family after a battle with cancer.
Memorial services were held Nov. 23 at 6 p.m. at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home Chapel in Metairie.
He will be most remembered for his dedication to his family, his love of Saints and Tiger football, his friendly, gentle nature and his sincere generosity. A native of Marion, and 33-year Kenner resident. Mr. Taylor graduated from Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, with a business degree. Following his graduation and service to the United States Army, Mr. Taylor enjoyed a successful career at Sealy Mattress Co. where he worked for the past 26 years. Preceded in death by his father, Alylmer Gray Taylor. Survived by his beloved wife of 32 years, Ilene Taylor; his loving daughter, Melissa Taylor; sisters: Beverly Tettleton and her husband, Jerry Tettleton of Shreveport, Marilyn Tipton and husband Jim Timpton of Madison, Miss. and Teresa Henry and husband Tom Henry of Vicksburg, Miss.; and his sweet mother, Cleo Reeves Taylor of Marion. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends. The family would like to extend their most sincere love, appreciation and gratitude to Dr. Edward “Ward” Pitard, Dr. Angelo Russo, and Dr. Thomas G. Nuttli, their nurses and staff and especially the nurses on 5 West at East Jefferson General Hospital for their outstanding and heartfelt care.
Pallbearers were Justin Henry, Jordan Henry, Tom Henry, Stan Tettleton, Jerry Tettleton, Jim Tipton, Bobby Lazarus and Allen Frazier.
