Joe F. Dison (02-03-2010)
Joe F. Dison, 61 of Spearsville, died on Jan. 26 at his residence following a lengthy illness. Born on June 9, 1948 in El Dorado, Ark., he was the son of Dellie and Willie Mae Welch Dison. Joe worked on several seismology crews with Southwest Geophysical and others during 70’s and 80’s. Later, he was a truck driver with Steve Elkins and then Lion Oil. Joe also enjoyed working on and restoring tractors, and loved to deer hunt.
Joe was preceded in death by his father, a brother Charles E. Dison, and recently his mother Willie Mae Dison Thurmon.
Survivors are his wife Kay Smith Dison of Spearsville, a daughter Rhonda Vahle and her daughter Sophie of Dallas, Texas, two sons Dusty Joe Dison and his daughter Whitney of Farmerville, and Billy Joe Dison of Monroe.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Jan. 29 in the Chapel of Bailey Funeral Home in Junction City with Rev. Billy Smith and Rev. James Stephens officiating. Interment will follow at Beech Grove Methodist Cemetery.
