The Union Christian varsity boys sealed their fifth straight district championship Tuesday when they defeated the Glenbrook Apaches of Minden on the road. The top scorers in the 57-50 victory were Ashton Coleman, with 14 points, and Hunter Thomason and Kayshawn Washington, who each produced 10 points.

The varsity girls came up short, bumping them down to third in district rankings. Khyra Hart scored 12 in the 46-29 loss. Girls came up short again Thursday night (39-34) against the Claiborne Academy Lady Rebels at home.

The Lady Lions played an excellent game against the Lady Rebels and showed a lot of grit on the court, but it just wasn’t enough. Khyra Hart led with 12 points.

After coming off the hype of the championship, the boys took another win over the Rebels (50-41), sealing their undefeated district season. With three 3-pointers, Bryson Fields found himself with 16 points during the game.

Both teams are looking forward to post-season play next week in Greenville, Mississippi.
