Recent changes here at The Gazette are bringing positive results. Thank you for all your feedback and your responses that let us know we are headed in the right direction.

I’m sure having read Charlette Madden’s column last week you are aware that she is now with The Gazette full time. If you’ve been reading her work since she started writing for us in January By Byron Avery you know why we’re excited to have her here.

Since taking over the Gazette office in November, we have made great strides in bringing this paper “back to Union Parish.” Our first hire was Donna Bunch, who was in charge of our advertising. She did a great job and moved us in the direction we needed to go. Donna has changed job duties and now handles all of our vendors in the parish.

Charlette’s hiring brings an additional pen, if you will, to the newsroom. Between the two of us we’ll be bringing you stories about locally-owned businesses and our local governments and individuals around the parish.

Charlette is also taking over the duties of advertising director. If you need or want to advertise with us, give her a call or shoot her an email (318.368.9732; advertising@fgazette. com). We look at our advertisers as partners. When you advertise with us, you become a partner in that we want to be part of your success. If your business posts something on social media, if we see it we’re going to post it to the Gazette page. We truly want to be a partner in helping your business grow.

In fact, we want The Gazette to be part of the growth for Farmerville and all of Union Parish. There are many local businesses and people who can and do make this parish shine. We want everyone to know about them.

Through our CPR program (that offers free advertising and matching advertising for locally-owned businesses) and new projects you will learn more about soon, there are several ways to make sure everyone knows what you have to offer, and what the UP has to offer.

Be on the look out for the D’Arbonne Dining Guide and Gazette TV: The Best of Union Parish.

If you have a story idea send us a suggestion. We can’t promise all of them will make it into the paper, but we’ll read each one and give it serious consideration.

Have a recipe you’re willing to share? Start getting them together to submit for publication. (More on that later too)

Here’s the point; we have a lot going on at The Gazette because you have a lot going on in Union Parish. Please join us in letting everyone know about it. So come on in, grab a cup of coffee and a chair and visit with us.
