Union Parish numbers increased by 52 cases from last week. Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness for Union Parish Director Greg Gossler attributes that, mainly, to three labs that had not turned in results for eight weeks. Although the state is “opening back up,” Gossler hopes “our people our taking it serious enough. This is not over yet.” Gossler said things may never be the same. “I would hope our ‘new normal’ is a conscious reality of our situation.” He encourages citizens to enjoy the Memorial Day weekend, but “please continue to practice social distancing and common sense.”
