Marion resident elected to leadership team of Toastmasters International District 68

Shirley Burch, DTM was recently elected to the Program Quality Director position for 2020-2021 of Toastmasters International District 68.

As Program Quality Director, Burch is responsible for all aspects of education and training within the district. This includes supporting quality club programming efforts, promoting the Distinguished Club Program, and planning and executing the district conference.

She will play a key role in leading more than 1000 members in 70 Toastmasters clubs across Louisiana, Beaumont, TX and Southwest, MS. She is one of the top 3 leaders in the district that are called the Trio. The Trio is the equivalent to the C-Suite in a corporation. The Trio consists of the District Director, Program Quality Director and Club Growth Director.

Burch has been a member of Toastmasters for 4 years serving as Club Growth Director this year, Division A Director last year and Area 4 in 2017- 2018, where she earned the Area of The Year Award.

Burch says, “On the club level, I served as President of Toastmasters of CenturyLink from January 2017 to June 2018 and am currently serving as VPE and VPPR of Twin City Toastmasters. Learning and growing never stops; therefore, it’s my desire to continue growing and helping others grow the Toastmasters’ Way!” One of Burch’s proudest achievements this year is earning the Distinguished Toastmaster Award. The Distinguished Toastmaster (DTM) award represents the highest level of educational achievement in Toastmasters. Burch says. “When God sends you on a journey, you never know the various paths you will take nor the wonderful and amazing people you will meet. People who will touch your life and the lives you in turn will touch. The bonds and friendships you will make. I must say that is the kind of journey my Toastmasters’ experience has been. A joyous journey!”
