Multi-parish burn ban issued following Hurricane Laura
State Fire Marshal H. “Butch” Browning and Agriculture and Forestry Commissioner Mike Strain have issued a cease and desist order for all private burning, pursuant to authority under R.S. 40:1602, for the following parishes: Allen, Beauregard, Calcasieu, Caldwell, Cameron, Catahoula, Concordia, Grant, Jackson, Jeff Davis, LaSalle, Lincoln, Natchitoches, Ouachita, Rapides, Red River, Sabine, Union, Vernon and Winn.
Private burning shall only be allowed by permission of the local fire department or local government. This order is effective as of 8 a.m., August 31, 2020 and shall remain in effect until rescinded.
Town of Farmerville closed Monday
Town of Farmerville offices and services will not be in operation Monday in observance of Labor Day. If your trash is scheduled to be picked up Monday you will now receive service Tuesday.
Lake drawdown scheduled
The 4-year drawdown for Lake D’Arbonne is scheduled to begin September 8 and end November 15. Plan your dock/pier/seawall work accordingly. Reach out to the LDWF for vegetation issues.
Clean UP day scheduled
The fourth annual collaboration with Ouachita Green for the annual Ouachita Water Sweep is scheduled for September 19. The theme (and shirts) will be “Go with the Flow: Clean UP” with the focus being on ALL the launch locations of our five natural and scenic streams! Volunteer groups are recommended to be no larger than 5-10 and that social distancing and cautious trash collection of drink/food containers be observed.
