At last week’s Farmerville Town Council meeting the aldermen made an appointment that was a long time coming.
Dee Nyegaard, the town’s current payroll clerk, is now the Assistant Town Clerk. The position has been open for more than two years since the death of Velvet Roberts.
Town Clerk Gay Nell Pepper said Nyegaard has earned the position.
“She’s been doing a great job with the duties already, Pepper said. “She adapted to what we do, how we do it and when. Now it just comes natural to her.”
Roberts, who was beloved by so many, was tough to replace, but Pepper said she can finally put someone new in that position.
In other business, the Council approved the sale of 4 acres of land in the Industrial Park area. A&J Dirt Work, LLC was the only bid received for the land. The lot appraised at $29,500 and that was the minimum bid, which was matched by A&J.
The next Council meeting is scheduled for December 14.
