The UCA varsity squads won three out of four in district play this week on the road, with the Lady Lions losing one.

On Tuesday, UCA traveled to Homer’s Claiborne Academy, where the girls took a difficult 61-22 loss against the Lady Rebels. That bumped them down to second place in district rankings. Isabella Fulton finished the evening with 8 points.

The UCA boys’ team repaid the favor with a close 44-39 win over the Rebels.

The varsity teams then made the trip to Providence Classical Academy in Bossier City Thursday, where the girls recovered from the loss earlier in the week, winning 42-17. Fulton again produced in the paint, scoring 14 points. Freshman Keyshawn Washington had a big night for the boys’ squad, putting up 14 points, while Reese Brown and Joe Carpenter had 12 points each, in a 61-46 win over the Knights.

The girls are now 3-1 in district, and the boys are 4-0. Both teams host Claiborne Academy for Senior Night Thursday starting at 6 pm.
