Johnny Hill, Sr., a resident of Spearsville, LA, passed away on Thursday, April 2, 2020 at the age of ninety-four. He was the fourteenth of fifteen children born to the late Allen & Eva Morris Hill. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Charles Colvin Hill, nine brothers and five sisters.

He joined Fellowship Baptist Church in Spearsville, Louisiana at an early age and remained a faithful member until his health failed.

Johnny was employed with Terrall Construction Company for over forty years. He took pride in his work and often spoke about all of the “big” construction jobs he had the pleasure of assisting with. His most notable one was the construction of many buildings on the campus of Grambling State University. He was also self-employed in the logging industry for over twenty years.

Johnny married Flossie Jones Hill on April 1, 1946, and to this union, fourteen children were born. Johnny enjoyed gathering with family, especially his grandchildren, and friends. He absolutely loved the game of baseball. He was loved by many and left a lasting impression on all you encountered him.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving and devoted wife of 74 years, Flossie Jones Hill; ten daughters, Celestine (Robert) Johnson, JoAnn (Leroy) Buggs, Terri Hill, and Sheronda Hill of Spearsville, Louisiana; Brenda (Michael) Alderson and Sharachel Caldwell of Eldorado, Arkansas; Marvelene Bragg, Linda Cleveland, and Felicia (Patrick) Wallace of Farmerville, Louisiana; and Jeanie Banks of Little Rock, Arkansas; four sons, Jimmy Hill, Johnny (Earnestine) Hill, Jr., and John Hill of Spearsville, Louisiana; and Sammy Hill of Chatham, Louisiana; thirty-three grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Graveside services were held at 11:00 A.M., Monday, April 6, 2020 at Pleasant Hill Memorial Gardens in Spearsville, Louisiana under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home.
