Funeral services for Rowena Roberson, 92, of Farmerville, La., will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at Farmerville First Assembly with Bro. Robbie Lawson officiating. Interment will follow in Hasley Cemetery, in West Monroe, La., under the direction of Farrar Funeral Home in Farmerville.

Her given name was “Rowena”, but she was also known as “Aunt RoRo” by her nieces and nephews, “Nena” by her many grand and great-grandchildren, and “Mom” by her four kids. She lived a full life and often said, “I plan to live to celebrate by 100th Birthday, but God may have a different plan for me.” God did, as she passed of natural causes at the age of 92 on December 11, 2020. She was a strongwilled, tough and maybe just a bit stubborn, as she beat COVID-19 and double pneumonia earlier this year at the age of 91.

Mrs. Roberson was a woman of strong faith her entire life and approached all matters in life looking to serve God. She traveled to China and Korea on several mission trips to share the gospel. She sang in the church choir, was a member of the Joy Sunday School class, and worked as one of the Secretaries at First Baptist. She started a “Date Night” so parents could have a night out. Mrs. Rowena and other volunteers kept the children. She was also a member of the Farmerville Garden Club and served a term as President and was asked to be a Flower Show Judge. She loved arranging flowers and won many ribbons for her talent.

Few people can claim to have lived a life with as few vices as she had. Her vice was a sweet tooth. Never drank, never smoked, never cursed but she did like her sweets! Something sweet with every meal, though you’d never know from her size. Family and faith were her two passions. She was a devoted wife and mother. She always treated her four kids as equals and as one of the kids (Willy) once noted, “God forbid if one of us got a few more English peas than the other.”

Mrs. Roberson graduated from Ouachita Parrish High School in Monroe and continued her studies at Northeast Junior College where is met her husband.

Mrs. Roberson was preceded in death by her loving husband of 54 years, Alan “Al” D. Roberson, Sr.; son, Alan D. “Bud” Roberson, Jr.; and two sisters, Ruth Stone and Mildred Chapman and three grandchildren William Cody Roberson, Anna Bess Williams, and Melanie Williams Rodriguez.

Left to cherish her memory are her sister, Violet Duffey; daughter, Gail Roberson Williams (Joe); two sons, William “Willy” Roberson (Sharon) and Carl “Ace” Roberson (Marisa); daughter-in-law, Linda Roberson Garland; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and other family members; and a host of other family and friends.

Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. ~ 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at Farmerville First Assembly.
