Warhawks named to LSWA All-Louisiana indoor track & field team

ULM’s Eric Hawkins, Rebekka Schubert, Brianna Sam and Jasmine Scott-Kilgo have been named to the Louisiana Sports Writers Association All-Louisiana Indoor Track & Field Team, based upon the best performances (times and distances) posted in their respective events as compiled by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

With the cancellation of the NCAA outdoor track & field season due to COVID-19, this marks the first-ever LSWA All-Louisiana Indoor Track & Field awards.

Two Warhawks – Hawkins in the men’s 800 meters and Schubert in the women’s pentathlon – produced the state’s top marks in their respective events.

Hawkins, a junior, became the silver medalist in the 800 at the 2020 Sun Belt Conference Championships, posting an indoor personal-best time of 1:52.04 at the Birmingham (Alabama) SportsPlex.

Schubert, a sophomore, placed fifth in the pentathlon at the Sun Belt Conference Championships, amassing a school-record 3,516 points. She broke the previous ULM mark, set by Danielle O’Donnel (3,502 points) in 2012.

Sam, a junior, won her second consecutive Sun Belt Conference indoor title in the women’s weight throw with a school-record distance of 66-6 1/2 – the second-best mark recorded by an in-state competitor in 2020.

Scott-Kilgo, a sophomore, claimed the first long jump title in her collegiate career, with a personal-best mark of 20-0 1/2 at the Houston G5 & Super 22 Invitational. Her distance was the third-longest posted by an in-state competitor this winter.
